Support Ladies Transitioning out of Dancing
Sunday, 21 November 2010 19:53

Victoria's Friends board, staff and team make a habit out of fasting. The combination of fasting and prayer is what gives us the spiritual edge we need to run the race and reach the dancers. This year we have a unique opportunity to not only enhance our fasting with wonderful products but also to help our dancers to continue transistioning out of dancing. The job market is tight and what the ladies need is a job and supplemental income to stay out of the clubs. Not only are our dancers accepting Christ and trusting HIM with their lives, they are also becoming Godly business women.

Victoria's Friends is also teaching them to run their own businesses. Our dancers have not only left the club, they are selling nutritional products and reshaping garments. Please help a dancer to support herself and enhance your fast by purchasing our detox cleansing or weight loss gift basket!

Happy Fasting in January! It’s our favorite time of year to hear from God. Let's all be successful in our fast as it sets the course for the year! God bless! Running the race to reach the lost!

Our friend Jason Leming recently asked me to share my story on his blog that encourages people to not just go to church, but to be the church by reaching out to others in need. Please check out Jason's blog at http://jasonleming.com/. My story is the January 21 entry.

Foundation Doubles Your Donations: $40K Match Offered Thru December 31
Monday, 02 November 2009 17:09

This fall, your donation to Victoria's Friends will double! Currently, one of our key supporters is offering an incredibly generous match. This foundation will match all donations made to Victoria’s Friends up to $40K through December 2009! To give online or via check, visit www.victoriasfriends.com/donate.

Victoria’s Friends is a faith based 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded in 2000. Our mission is to reach out to women and teens by helping them to heal from their past and start living their dream. We meet these women by taking gift baskets directly into adult club dressing rooms so we can get to know the ladies. We help those who want to transition out of the industry through services such as personal and spiritual growth, mentoring, a scholarship program, and an array of other resources.

In addition to those in adult entertainment, we serve a wide range of other women from all walks of life through our small groups and workshops. We regularly connect with women struggling with issues such as drug addiction, homelessness, eating disorders and abuse. Our events are offered at our hub at City of Refuge, a homeless ministry located in downtown Atlanta.

As part of our prevention focus for youth, we speak to groups of teenage girls about sexual purity and how to be a healthy young lady. We help the girls navigate through today's challenging culture. For teens we offer small groups, conferences and online mentoring.

Macon Teen Conference
Saturday, 31 October 2009 17:45

teenconf1In October, I was invited to speak at a teen lock-in that was held in Macon, Georgia. I came home in tears over all that God did that weekend with the 55 teenage girls in attendance. I had the opportunity to minister to 6th-12th grade girls who shared struggles related to suicide, confusion, depression, and questions about dating and sex. This is a photo of some of the girls who received a purity ring and white rose. During the lock-in, I spoke three times and centered my messages around the following areas:

  • Because the core issue is teens do not know who they are, it's crucial they find their value and life's purpose in Christ.
  • Removing the idols from our hearts and making Jesus the centerpiece.
  • Establishing that purity is not only abstinence from sex, it is a lifestyle choice that encompasses all areas of life.

I had the opportunity to speak to 400 students at Wesleyan Private School today. I loved the energy and passion and enjoyed meeting so many of the students.
